Finland’s Orthodox Chamber Choir sings Gladsome Light (Valaam Chant)

The Orthodox Chamber Choir of Finland (Ortodoksinen kamarikuoro) sings “Gladsome Light” in the Valaam Znamenny chant tradition, during Great Vespers on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, East Meadow, New York. The Choir’s founder and director is Mr. Juhani Matsi.

The “Gladsome Light” or “Joyous Light” chant is one of the most ancient in the Church. St Justin Martyr references it in the year 150.
